Hello. It’s What’s Happening at Silver Creek Clogging, the week of July 19th. I’m Ruth. I’m here at your Silver Creek Clogging Dance and Movement Center in Silverton, Oregon. It’s the home of Dance Classes that Make Kids HappyTM.
Right off the bat, I want to say, “Yay, for Clog Down Showdown 2021.” It was so much fun.
Congratulations to this year’s Clog Down Showdown winner, Abby (Woohoo, Abby!); congratulations to Team Sparklers, who made their very first ever performance in the studio (they did awesome); and congratulations to all of our dancers who participated, who worked hard, who showed off their stuff.
I really appreciate everyone, all of our studio families. We had grandparents and siblings, it was so fun to have everyone come together to support their dancers; to eat, play games, and just enjoy a lovely Friday afternoon together. I’m already super excited for next year. Can’t wait.
This month, our focus, our Tapping into ExcellenceTM leadership focus is on self-esteem. And, we’ve been talking about self-esteem all month and it’s been really rewarding.
This week, I want to just chat a little bit about being perfect. So, did you know that having good self-esteem (healthy self-esteem) is not the result of being perfect? Yeah? If perfection was the requirement of having healthy self-esteem, then no one would have healthy self-esteem, right? I think, really, what it comes down to is being honest with ourselves, about our strengths and our weaknesses. So, in your email, we’ve listed out a little two-step process to help you evaluate your strengths and your weaknesses, and get real about them, and then make a plan to move forward.
I think that, as we’ve talked about previously, it’s really easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others as a way to determine what our strengths and weaknesses are. But, really. when you get right inside and you think about it and you can evaluate (with this two-step process), that’s when you really get a boost in recognizing your own value and what you want to work on and what you really want to continue strengthening. So, that is our focus this week. Just being able to accurately identify those strengths and weaknesses within you, and who you are, will really help you to find some satisfaction, and build and strengthen your own self-esteem. So, look for that two-step process in your email.
All right, we are hiring. Today, Monday, July 19th, is the last day for our internal, studio only recruitment. After today we open up our recruitment to everyone out there, so if you want the best chance to have your application considered for our classroom aid in the studio, make sure to get it in by tonight. Because, after tonight it opens up, okay? All the information is in your email, including the link to apply, and if you follow the link to apply it just will talk you through all of the requirements. There’s a video of me talking about my own clogging journey into becoming an instructor and how that benefited my life over the years. And so, take a look at the application and there you have it.
Studio calendar and upcoming events. Please keep the following dates and events on your calendars:
The week of August 2nd is, wear your dance costume or other fun dress up to class.
And then, that very week, that Saturday (Saturday August 7th) is the Homer Davenport Parade, and every one of our students is invited to participate in that parade with us.
On Saturday, August 21st we’re going to be dancing at the Silverton Fine Arts Festival. Every one of our current enrolled students is able to participate in that event with us. We would love to have you.
And then, into September; September 6th, there will be no classes on the Labor Day holiday; just a heads up on that.
The week of September 27th we’re going to be wearing our studio t-shirts and crazy socks to classes. I love it. That’s always a fun week.
And then, into October; the week of October 25th. That’s the week of Halloween and we’re gonna wear our non-scary Halloween costumes to class.
Next year, our recitals (our studio recitals) are Saturday, January 22nd and Saturday, June 4th. Please put both of those days on your calendars now and be prepared. Every single student will be invited to participate in the recital, so just put those on your calendars now.
We also have a couple of community performances that we’re lining up; some of which I’ve already kind of just outlined on the studio calendar and the others are in your email. So, take a look at that.
And, thank you again, so much, for coming to join us to celebrate our dancers at the Clog Down Showdown 2021 and have a fun community time together. Community is so important here, at Silver Creek Clogging. Just coming together and having that camaraderie is super important, and we’re just really grateful to everyone who participated, and it was a really, really fun night. So, until next year and in the meantime, happy dancing.
